Albatross #2

See ya later, sucka!

(Dear readers, whatever positive influence you have in the universe would be most appreciated. This paper is a good one, but it's gonna be a fight to get it through review I think. I hope I am wrong.)

It's always a fight. I've never had a paper just sail on through. The only stories I've heard of that happening involved co-submitted back-to-back with other groups. Journals love the automatic validation of seeing that multiple groups got similar or consistent results. Saves them having to worry so much about peer review.

Having said that - good luck! If it helps, I saw a great quote the other day and it really helped me with something scary & hard:

Picture yourself in your mind's eye as having already achieved this goal. ~ Earl Nightingale

Hey lady, I'm sending you all my good juju in hopes that the publication is rushed to print!

MsPhD - interestingly, there is a chance that this might be our situation, though not intentionally. We have competition for this paper...at the same journal. I have no idea how that's handled from the editor's perspective but if we get sent to the same reviewers as the competitor's paper that could actually be good for us. Then two independent groups show the same result which makes it less of a fight. Wouldn't that be tidy? I'm not going to hold me breath, but it sure would be cool

Well you won't get a ton of positive vibes from a guy termed "Dr. Cynicism," but I wish you the best of luck! Maybe the reviewer-gods will shine light upon your path for this one :-)
