The stupid, it burns

I have wicked allergies.

And I just ate a bahn mi sandwich with extra jalapenos and sriracha.

Then I rubbed my eyes.

Oh fuuuuuuuck.

I would use the eyewash station in the lab, but the water comes out rust brown. Somehow I don't think that will be soothing, so I'll just sit here with tears streaming down my face until that shit clears on its own.

The water won't help anyway; if you can make yourself cry, that will.

(Not that I have had experiences with homegrown bird's eye chilis that have taught me to bring latex gloves home for the sole purpose of chili handling).

You could always try my hypothesis of washing your eyes out with milk. I dunno if it'll work, and I dunno if anyone has ever tried it, but I sooooooo want to do that study.

Dude, when I was in Hawaii I sprayed myself in the face with SPF 6 billion sunscreen. I had never used a misting spray and I seriously underestimated the amount of sunscreen that was going to come out, and yeah, I started with my face. While I did close my eyes when I sprayed my face, the pain came when the torrent of sunscreen on my forehead succumbed to the force of gravity. It was a great day for sightseeing.

Twice I have rubbed my eyes after cutting up serrano chilies. I have rinsed and rinsed and rinsed and rinsed and it never seems to help. I was too chicken to try milk so I just had to wait about an hour or two for it to wear off enough that I was able to open my eyes completely.

I'm bringing some gloves home next time I cook with chilies because I obviously can't be trusted to not touch my eyes after cutting them.

Capsaicin will do that to your mucous membranes.

My condolences <3
